Panovec Forest

The Panovec Forest covers 380 hectares and lies right on the edge of Nova Gorica. Its immediate proximity to the city, varied terrain, and network of trails attract many visitors in all seasons. In this area, you can find lovers of peace and nature, recreational athletes, cyclists, horse riders, walkers, mushroom pickers, and researchers. The forest has marked fitness and running trails as well as an educational trail.
From a botanical perspective, Panovec is especially interesting due to the large number of tree species, the result of systematic tree planting in the past. Many animals live here, the most notable being the Italian agile frog (laška žaba). Since 1985, Panovec has been declared a natural monument.
